About
Kara Gut is a multidisciplinary artist whose primary focus is image-based, digital media. Her work investigates the new shape of human intimacy formed by internet lifestyle, constructed detachment from reality, and the power dynamics of the virtual. Her project titled "Welcome to my Desert Nexus" is a play written to be performed within a video game. The play follows two player-characters within the game Red Dead Redemption Online as they encounter existential quandaries in the digital desert. The misadventures that ensue reflect our current societal moment as we grapple with what it means to exist within digital spaces.
