Writing for the Contemporary with
Room Project
The contemporary art world is a complex matrix for artists to navigate. From museums to galleries, academic institutions, art-firms, foundations and artist run spaces there are a myriad of settings in which one must engage with writing. This course invites artists to discover how to write for the varying entry points into the art world. Geared towards artists who identify as marginalized including women, LGBQ, Trans and Gender non-conforming, Black, Brown, Indigenous or Disabled this course will create a safe space for us to talk, write about and build strategy in sharing our practice beyond visual crafts. Together we will explore the artist statement, vs bio and craft texts that elevate our practices while being accessible for folks interested in our work.
